During Philosophy class this morning, my professor mentioned something about homosexuality in ancient Greece and how normal it was to have same-sex relationships then, and my barbaric, insensitive, homophobic classmates started making irritating “eeewwww” and “yuuuuck” comments and foul homosexual jokes which really annoyed the hell out of me, especially to think that not everyone present in the room is as straight as they think they are.
Is it really that hard for people to be at least accepting of others? My best friend is gay and I have plenty of other gay friends, and it hurts me whenever I see any of them getting randomly bullied just because they aren’t like the majority. I love them all so much not because they are different and they need love but because they are incredibly lovely, and real people.
I really hope I’d live to see the day where people aren’t categorized by sexual orientations anymore. I would love to be part of a society where we’re all just human beings, free from discrimination, capable of loving and being loved. But for now, in this wrecked world we are living in, all I can contribute is my support and huge love to all of these brave and honest people who defied what the society dictates and chose to show the world how fabulous their real selves are. You guys are amazing, and my highest respect will always be for you.
